A core piece of the CEO Network’s mission is to open doors to opportunities that minority students may have not been able to access alone.
If we do this successfully, our students will have more confidence in their internship/job search, they will have an established professional network to tap into for job leads and have professional mentors to guide them in their transition from student to young professional. Oh, and yes, A JOB as they leave their UO college experience.
To accomplish this mission, we provide professional development events tailored to the multicultural and diverse backgrounds of our students. We engage students, allies, recruiters and minority professionals to create these experiences. Our events are held throughout the year and they include:
- Guest Lecture from a Minority Business Leader
- Skill Drill workshop for students to rehearse networking skills
- Networking/Recruiting Event that mix minority role models, corporate recruiters and students
- Game Changer Award (Coming Soon) and Diversity Conference

Practice makes Perfect handshaking
It all starts with exploring and stepping out of their comfort zones. At our events students get to know each other, listen to others personal experiences and how they got to where they are today. Many participants at the events offer inspiration to students, motivating them to further excel in being professionals.
We interviewed some students from each generation as they explained the importance of the CEO Network events:
CEO Network gave me the skills and confidence to walk into a room where I do not know anyone and spark a professional conversation.
